Meghan Markle sports subtle stripes and Bottega Veneta earrings at SXSW

The Duchess of Sussex has landed in Texas.

Meghan Markle hit the stage in subtle stripes at the South by Southwest (SXSW) 2024 festival in Austin on Friday, joining the likes of Katie Couric and Brooke Shields for a keynote session titled “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen.”

The duchess, 42, donned her signature luxe neutrals for the event, opting for a cream-colored silk Giuliva Heritage shirt ($974) and matching maxi skirt ($1,050).

She accessorized with her favorite Valentino Garavani Roman Stud mules, which are no longer available but originally retailed for $770 — a similar multi-studded style in black will set you back $970 — and Bottega Veneta knot earrings ($820 $508).

The panel, which was moderated Errin Haines, editor-at-large for The 19th News, also featured author and pop culture expert Nancy Wang Yuen.

SXSW described the group as “visionary female leaders at the forefront of news, media, entertainment, and philanthropy who are breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and working toward a healthier society on and off our screens.”

Markle’s Texas trip follows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s February visit to Vancouver for a series of events celebrating one year until the 2025 Invictus Games.

During her time in Canada, Markle wore a series of bundled-up looks including a sophisticated camel wrap coat and an Aritzia beanie and scarf, but she also glammed it up in a green Greta Constantine evening gown.

Along with her keynote panel on Friday, we should be hearing Markle speak out more often in the coming days; she recently signed a new podcast deal with Lemonada Media.
